Robin RedBreast Eye of the Day

Guess what I saw in my back yard??? A robin! So beautiful and love hearing the birds coming back and singing in the yard.

Robin in the backyard
So, I decided to do an eyeshadow look based on this coloring.
I used the Nyx Blue Eyes palette to create this look.

Doesn't it look awesome! I am soo pleased with how this turned out and think I may try to do a few more bird looks as I spot different ones in the yard. What do you think?

Minimalist Eye of the Day

Today, I feel like doing a more natural eye look. This look was fun and easy to do!

I used Tarte Beauty& the Box in Envoke the Smoke, Tarte Smooth Operator Amazonian Clay Eye Base, Tarte mascara and Physician's Formula eyeliner.

Here's the finished results:

Have a great day!

Nail Polish Tip: What is Wrapping the Tips?

Wrapping your tips can help a manicure last much longer than just polishing them the regular way. Many people have heard of this, but what exactly does it mean to "wrap the tips" of a manicure?

Wrapping the tips simply means to take the nail polish around the tip of nail, as demonstrated in the photo above. Notice it is not on the entire underside of the nail, just the free edge that itself has height. Even though the edge of our nails are very, very small; that space can and does make a difference in the durability of our manicures. Why is this?

As you can see in the photo above, having that extra area of the nail coated in polish makes it harder for the polish on the top of our nails to wear away. This gives an extra sort of insulation layer that needs to wear down first. Because of this, wrapping the tips of our nails with the polish allows the manicure to last longer!

Valentine's Day 2013 Manicure

Happy Saint Valentine's Day!

For today's manicure I went with the ever-popular heart theme in pink, white and red.

I am going to do a nail-art tutorial on this look because I think it turned out pretty nice and wasn't that hard to do.

Here are all the tools I used:

Red Angle Plate 120
Red Angel Plate 106

Tutorial:
  1. First, I painted my nails with Funky Fingers Gesso - 2 coats
  2. Painted nails with Kleancolor Fuschia Holo - 3 coats
  3. I used RA-120 with Konad Red to stamp the hearts on both of my thumbs, then applied Seche Vite top coat over both thumbs
  4. With Funky Fingers Gesso and RA-106, stamped the whole nail heart pattern onto the other 4 fingers on each hand, then applied Seche Vite top coat.
  5. Used Glitter Gal Type O on tips of nails on 4 fingers with nail stamp.
  6. Used Glitter Gal Type O and small nail art brush to make dots along the two hearts on the all-over nail designs that I just stamped on my nails.
  7. Added one final coat of Seche Vite to all nails :)

One final photo with the finished look:

I love how this turned out and hope you all have a great Saint Valentine's Day!

Pink Beauty

Hello everyone! Hope you are having a great day :)

Deciding to get into the Saint Valentine's Day spirit myself, I decided to go with a classic pink look.

Kleancolor Fuschia Holo

On top of Funky Fingers Gesso, I added Kleancolor Fuschia Holo. It is larger holographic particles in a light pink jelly base. The photo shows about 3 coats. It takes a while to build up the pink color.

Here are some more photos so you can get a better idea of what this beautiful polish really looks like at different angles:

This last photo is probably my favorite since it shows more of the rainbow color across the nails. If you click to make it larger, you can see the rainbow even better.

Thanks for looking!

Swatch: Funky Fingers Gesso

Funky Fingers Gesso is a white nail polish.

Funky Fingers Gesso
I must admit, this polish is not one of my favorites. It is really streaky and hard to apply. You can see the problem area on my middle finger that was created by trying to even out the polish on the second coat. It was thick enough to only need 2 coats, but perhaps too thick?

Overall, it's not a must have polish but is fine for my purposes. I like putting white under some of the lighter holographic polishes to really bring out the color. So far, OPI Alpine Snow Matte is still my favorite white nail polish.

Swatch: AEngland Beauty Never Fails

One of the newer AEngland colors, is Beauty Never Fails. It is a beautiful color with dark forest green undertones and the ever-so-subtle gold flecks seen as the lights passes over the nail.

I applied one coat, and as you can see from the photo below, it needed a second coat. Luckily, this brand is opaque in two coats and it glides on smoothly.

AEngland Beauty Never Fails One Coat

AEngland Beauty Never Fails
The photo above is after two coats and taken in natural light. You can really see how beautiful this color is and those gold flecks peeking through as well.

This is a closeup shot in flash and you can see how deep the green is, yet not so dark that it comes off as a green-black type shade.

This last shot is an extreme close-up of the polish on my nails to show the gold flecks. I really like that part of this nail polish and why it really speaks to me as a truly unique shade!

You can find AEngland on beautometry.com and for February 2013 enter code LOVE at checkout for 10% off your entire purchase :) Enjoy!

Glitter Gal Warped Teal = Butterflies and Beatles :)

I really wanted to try one of the Glitter Gal Duochromes and so I reached for Warped Teal. In the bottle it looks sort of sheer, but on the nail, wow!

Glitter Gal Duochrome Warped Teal
I used two coats over Kleancolor Neon Sapphire. It is so pretty and you can really see the color changes, especially throughout the day as the angle of the sun changes.

Here are two more shots at different times of the day to show some of the color shift:

You can see in the first photo it is more blue leaning and in the second it is more green leaning. I love the shift in this between those two colors. It really reminds me of the green on the wings of a beetle going towards the blue of the wings of the Blue Morpho butterfly. The Blue Morpho is my absolute favorite butterfly, which really makes me like this polish a lot!

Here's some closer photos to show more of the color shift:

Look at those beautiful colors that this one polish creates. Glitter Gal Warped Teal certainly is a unique duochrome!

I was even able to capture the color shift on the nails in one photo! You can see the transition between the green and blue here:

Thanks for looking! Don't forget you can get this, along with other Glitter Gal and AEngland nail polish, on sale for 10% off your entire purchase with code LOVE at checkout on beautometry.com.
Have a great day!

Snowstorm Nemo in Manicure Form

I hope everyone is having a great Saturday and that the snowstorm hasn't caused too much damage. I figured since I haven't really done any snowstorm nail art this year now is as good a time as any.

Here's some of the snow from my backyard last week, unfortunately it only lasted a few hours and then all melted. But I still got a decent photo!

I started with Kleancolor Neon Sapphire nail polish as a base on all my nails.
Then, I added Glitter Gal Duochrome Warped Teal over all nails.
I then took Funky Fingers Gesso and a nail art brush and started painting little snowflakes and dots on the nails in a random fashion.
After covering it all with Seche Vite, I noticed that the white started turning purple!!

I was able to get photos before it turned purple. The purple and green really made for an interesting manicure, that's for sure.

Snowstorm Nemo Manicure Left Hand

Check out that larger snowflake on the accent nail :) I wanted to try something different and it didn't quite turn out how I liked, but it still ended up being a nice snowy manicure.

Snowstorm Nemo Manicure Thumb
And of course, the not often seen right hand!

And, since this was one heck of a snowstorm, here's an extreme closeup:

Everyone please be stay and keep warm! Have a great day.

Lancome Gift With Purchase Time!

I love Gift With Purchase time! Lancome is having theirs right now at Macy's. I have been wanting to get the Lancome eye makeup remover for a while and this was the perfect opportunity.

This is the version that I chose and I can't wait to try that lipstick! I am also looking forward to trying the body exfoliating scrub. Of course I will review all of it at some point here. I see my reviews as a way to remind myself of what I did and did not like, or even certain things that I did like but might not buy again if there are others that I reviewed and liked better. Hopefully, the reviews are beneficial to others as well. If there is something that you would like to see reviewed, let me know!

Thanks for reading and feel free to follow me to see other sales, reviews, tutorials, tips, swatches and more!

Swatch: Kleancolor Neon Sapphire

Kleancolor has a great selection of nail polish and I always find myself grabbing one of these colors lately to do my manicure. They have cremes, jellies, glitter, holo, hex, you name it!

Kleancolor Neon Sapphire
The polish I swatch today has quickly become a favorite of mine, especially for winter. Kleancolor Neon Sapphire is a very dark blue almost jellies sort of creme. It applies nicely and is opaque at two coats. I always like to add that second coat just to be sure there is no visible nail line showing.

The reason I gravitate towards this color is because it looks really good against my olive skin tone. I like wearing it by itself or sprucing it up with nail art. I also like using it as a base coat for layering. What a versatile polish!

Swatch: AEngland Galahad

Another AEngland polish to show today. It is one of my favorites so far. It is a minty teal type shade, which I happen to really like.

AEngland Galahad
You can purchase this polish on beautometry.com along with the rest of the AEngland line.

It applied very smoothly and was opaque yet not too thick to make it hard to work with. This polish is part of the Mythicals Collection offered by AEngland. This particular polish is named for Sir Galahad, which is one of the mythical Knights of the Round Table.

I am very happy to be back doing my blog again and able to devote more time to the business. I am thinking of hosting a giveaway as soon as I reach 100 followers, so feel free to follow the blog and see what types of polish and nail art I may come up with next. Swatch: Glitter Gal Not Another Red NEW 10mL Holographic Nail Polish

Today I have a swatch of one of the brand new Glitter Gal holographic nail polishes. The smaller bottle size is now 10mL instead of the previous 9mL. This means the 9mL bottles are discontinued, so they will be offered on beautometry.com until they are gone.

Glitter Gal Not Another Red Nail Polish
This color is a great strawberry red linear holographic. I really like the way the red base is in this, that strawberry color is great for Valentine's manicure, summer and even Christmas! The photo above is two coats over natural nails. Love the coverage of this and wear-ability as well.

Beautometry.com
It is true to its name, it may be another red holographic nail polish, but it's not the same as any other that I have. It has a great bright feeling and that sets it apart from the other red holographic polish offered by Glitter Gal. You can find the new 10mL bottles on beautometry.com along with the whole Glitter Gal range.

Don't forget about the Saint Valentine's Day Nail Art Contest! One lucky winner will receive one of these new 10mL Glitter Gal holographic polishes of their choice.

And here's a final closer shot of this beautiful polish:

Review: Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes Mascara

The next of the three mascaras that I have been trying out the past several months or so is made by Tarte. Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes mascara has been wonderful to use!

Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes Mascara
First, let me discuss product packaging. I usually don't care about that; but in this case I actually don't like the weird type of package for this mascara. It is in a tube that is encased in some sort of "leather' feeling material. Don't get me wrong, I really like the snakeskin purple finish look, but I find it a waste that it is basically material around the actual tube. Luckily, it doesn't mess with application of the product and it is probably the only thing I actually dislike about this mascara.

In the photo above, you can really see the difference between my lashes with and without the mascara. The eye on the left has the Tarte mascara on it and the one on the right does not. This photo really shows such a dramatic difference this mascara makes!

I absolutely love this mascara. It is very creamy, easy to apply, lasts all day. Basically, everything that I would want in a mascara. It makes my eyes really standout and makes those eyelashes look so full and gorgeous. These are my natural lashes and this mascara really makes them look wonderful.

Overall, I will definitely be using this mascara again and will recommend it to anyone that is looking to enhance their natural lashes and not wear false lashes to do it. The tube of mascara lasted me about 4 months exactly and just ran out. Luckily, I already have a new tube!

Swatch: Glitter Gal 10 to Midnight 3D Holographic Nail Polish

Today, I have one of the beautiful and popular Glitter Gal holographic polishes to show you.

10 to Midnight is a great charcoal color and looks nice both indoors and out, especially in the sun!

Glitter Gal 10 to Midnight 3D Holographic Nail Polish
This polish goes on great, like all the other Glitter Gal shades. It lasts rather long as well, and doesn't show signs of tipwear as soon as many of the other holographic polishes do. I just love seeing those rainbows!

You can buy this and other Glitter Gal polishes on Beautometry. Don't forget about the Saint Valentine's Day nail art contest as well.
