Ice Cream Nails Tutorial

This week, She Who Does Nail Art Challenges on facebook had a challenge of fast food. Being that ice cream is my favorite food I decided to do nails inspired by Dairy Queen. It was so easy to do that I also made a tutorial for it from start to finish.

Here is the finished manicure:

Tutorial:

1. Base coat of OPI San Tan-Tonio

OPI San Tan-Tonio

2. Stamped on edge of all nails with OPI You Don't Know Jacques! and BM-208

3. Stamped on edge of nails (careful not to cover up original lighter brown color) with OPI Suzi Loves Cowboys and BM-209

4. Used Sinful Colors striper polish in Bad Chick (white) to make ice cream design on other end of nails and filled in completely. The reason I did this is so that the color I ultimately use for the ice cream shows up better against the brown cone background.

5. Used Finger Paints Chrysanthe-Mum's the Word to make the ice cream part of the cone.

6. Added black spots with a dotting tool using Funky Fingers Black Knight to make the ice cream look like mint chocolate chip.

What an easy manicure that looks great too!! What is your favorite flavor of ice cream?

The animal image was stamped with AEngland Camelot.

The white flowers are done with Konad White.

Here are the following nail plates I used to get this design: RA-118, BM-208, BM-214 and BM-224

Swatch: Glitter Gal Citrine

Glitter Gal Citrine is a great color when the sun comes out! This linear holographic polish just shine :)

The following photos are Glitter Gal Citrine over Kleancolor Boogie Nights. I usually put my holographic colors over a base coat in order to use less coats of polish. Less coats mean the bottle lasts longer :)

Here are some closer photos so you can see the awesome holo goodness:

Glitter Gal Citrine is part of the newest addition of holographic nail polishes offered by Glitter Gal and can be found on beautometry.com

Swatch: Glitter Gal Serpent Black

For tax day, I decided to swatch a great black polish. I figure the color is fitting for the theme...

Glitter Gal Serpent Black is a great black polish that is super shiny! I also love the durability and that it is opaque in just one coat.

Glitter Gal Serpent Black

My husband said it reminds me of an eight-ball. I would surely have to agree with that assessment!Very beautiful black polish.

Glitter Gal Transitions and Violet Eyeshadow Look

I feel like matching my eyeshadow to my nails. What better way to do it than use Glitter Gal Transitions shades?

I first started with two coats of Glitter Gal Hidden Violets Soft.
The following two photos show the color change between a pretty purple and a really dark royal blue.

Then, for added interest and texture, I put Glitter Gal Wild Violets Brilliant on my nail tips. I think it sort of looks like those new OPI Sands colors. What a cool effect! Much better in real life :)

Finally, to make the look complete, I did a violet-colored eyeshadow look:

Swatch: Glitter Gal Red Holographic

With the recent increase in sun, it's a great time to wear holographic polish! These are some photos from a while ago when my nails were shorter. What do you think of the length versus my nails longer?

Glitter Gal Red Holographic
I first put a coat of LA Colors white followed by 2 coats of the Glitter Gal Red polish.

Glitter Gal can be bought at beautometry.com :)

Check Out That Foliage with BM-205

It's gotten pretty hot here suddenly (abut 90 degrees) and so I decided to do a foliage manicure.

I first took OPI Cuckoo for This Color on all except the accent finger. On the accent fingers, I put Kleancolor Jazz Olive.

Then, using the foliage design on BM-205, I stamped over the OPI with Jazz Olive and over the accent nail with the OPI. Finally, I finished off with a coat of Seche Vite for that glass-like finish.

What spring mani are you doing this week?

Swatch: Kleancolor Disco Purple

Kleancolor Disco Purple is a surprising nail polish. I pulled it out thinking it a mere dark purple, but once my nails dried I noticed how wonderful this polish really is!

Kleancolor Disco Purple
The polish is a beautiful dark purple with little iridescent blue/purple micro-fleck flakies. That is the best way I can describe it. I really enjoyed wearing this polish and will surely bring it out for some nail art in the future.
