Toothpick Watermarble with a Shamrock

I've been playing around with watermarbling lately. For this design, I incorporated traditional watermarbling with "toothpick marbling" right on the nail.

I started off with Sinful Colors Happy Ending on all nails. Then, I put Kleancolors Neon Lime on the tips of all 4 fingers.

For the thumb, I created a watermarble shamrock design with Kleancolors Neon Lime and Kleancolor Holo Green. This watermarble was done the traditional way and turned into a decal.

For the tips, while the main color was still wet, I put a drop of Sally Hansen XTreme Wear Marine Scene and pushed the toothpick around in it to create the marbling effect. Topped it all with Seche Vite and applied my cuticle oil.

Have you tried watermarbling right on the nail?

2015 Valentine's Day Challenge: Red Passion

Today's theme for the 2015 Valentine's Day Challenge is Red Passion.

Of course I knew I wanted to use red polish, so I put China Glaze Phat Santa on all my nails and decided to do the thumb and ring finger as accents with Sinful Colors Dazzle.

Using Nailways Springtime Love is in the Air plate, I stamped the xoxo full nail design on the accent nails with Funky Fingers Dark Knight and the rest of the nails with Funky Fingers Pop Artist.

I topped everything with Seche Vite and there you have it :) I like how this turned out, what would you do for the theme "red passion?"

2015 Valentine's Day Challenge: Glitter Hearts

Today's theme for the 2015 Valentine's Day Challenge is glitter hearts. I've seen so many manicures that look awesome with glitter as the background, so I figured I'd give that look a try.

I started with a base of Funky Fingers Pop Artist and topped it off with Sinful Colors Pinky Glitter.

Using Sugar Bubbles plate SB011, I stamped on the heart outlines with Funky Fingers Dark Knight.

Have you tried stamping on glitter yet? It was so easy and looks great!

I is for Inspired

Today for the A2Z Challenge we have I is for Inspired. We had a VERY BRIEF snowfall today and it made me happy to finally see snow. So, this manicure is inspired by the beautiful moment of snow we had.

I started off with Sinful Colors Why Not, a very vibrant turquoise blue. Very beautiful and bright! I then put Kleancolor Chunky Holo Teal over it and Kleancolor Midnight Seduction over the ring finger nail.

Here's some close-up shots:

                                                                           Macro:

Using Emily de Molly plate EDM07, I stamped the trees on the thumb and ring finger.

Using Sugar Bubbles SB03, I isolated the ornaments and snowflakes to decorate the other nails.

In order to create the snowbanks and drifting snow on the thumb and ring finger I just used some of the scraped polish left on the plate. I picked it up with the stamper and just stamped it on the nail like any other type of image. I really like how that turned out. I added Fingerpaints Shower with Flowers over the two tree images to give it some green and snowy white glitter. Topped it with Seche Vite and there you go:

You can see the other manicures for this week's challenge here:

July Neon Flower Manicure

The sun had been shining very well the last few days, then all of a sudden BAM overcast! So, to reminisce about the sun I decided to do a neon manicure and just had to add flowers.

Here's the finished look:

Looks like a Christmas cactus!

Here's the tutorial for how to get the look and what tools and products I used:

What do you think? What kinds of flower art have you been doing?

Seven Deadly Sins Nail Art Challenge: Greed - Snake Pit ~

My latest nail art design is part of the ongoing Seven Deadly Sins Nail Art Challenge. This time it is the deadly sin of Greed. The theme for Greed is "Remember, more is more, don’t hold yourself back." I decided to portray that with a Snake pit, very fitting right?

If one polish is good enough for a manicure, why not as much polish as possible? LOL, I used 15 different polishes for this manicure!

Colors from thumb to pinkie: OPI Did It On Em, FingerPaints Chrysanthe-Mum's The Word, OPI Green-Wich Village, Revlon Emerald, and OPI Uh-Oh Roll Down the Window.

On the thumb I added Kleancolor Pastel Yellow with a Q-Tip and then stamped the snakeprint design from BM-215 with Konad White and then re-stamped with Kleancolor yellow in certain places.

BM-215

The Pointer Finger has Sally Hansen XTreme Wear Green with Envy added with a QTip and the Konad White with BM-215 stamped and then re-stamped with Sally Hansen XTreme Wear in Green with Envy. I then topped it off with OPI Call My Cell-Ery.

The Middle Finger is stamped first with BM-209 and A-Taupe the Space Needle followed by BM-208 stamped with Funky Fingers Ectoplasmic and then finally stamped again with BM-209 and L.A. Girl Color Addict Obsess.

BM-209
BM-208
On the Ring Finger I first put a stripe on each side with Sinful Colors Striper in Be My Valentine and then stamped BM-209 with OPI A-Taupe the Space Needle.

The pinkie has BM-208 stamped with OPI Suzi Loves Cowboys and then BM-215 stamped with Funky Fingers Back Knight.

Wow, so much polish to accomplish this look! Five different snake designs :)
What do you think?

Strawberry Nails Tutorial

Just in time for Spring, I decided to do a nail tutorial! Strawberry nails are super easy and fun to create :)

First, put down your basecoat of any type of strawberry red polish you like.

Sinful Colors

The next step is to take a white polish and paint where the leaves of the strawberry will go, you can put them on either side of your nail depending on what orientation you want the strawberries to face. I used just a regular Sinful Colors white striper polish to accomplish this:

Next, take a green polish to paint over where you made the white leaves design. The reason for the white was to make sure that the green really stands out against the red background. I used a green Sinful Colors Striper polish for this. Then, you take yellow to make the seeds, which are little oval dots along the nail. Just like a strawberry!

And, here is the final product:

Not only was this manicure fun to create, it is fun to wear for spring!
Did you try it too? Feel free to post your links to your version in the comments below :)

Stars in the Night Sky

Orly Rock Solid on all nails except ring finger which has Orly Le Chateau. Orly Le Chateau is a very dark, almost black, green jelly-like color. Very complicated, which is interesting in a nail polish. Over the accent color, I put a Sinful Colors glitter. Not sure which one, but one in the clear base with irredescent glitter.

Overall, this looks like a beautiful night sky with lots and lots of stars.

Close-up of Orly Rock Solid to show some of the holographic glitter particles. It is not a super holographic polish, but in the right light it has nice sparkle.

I just got OPI My Private Jet (one of the newer versions) and wanted to compare it. As you can see, nothing close. This one has a sort of teal flash and very smooth finish.

Sinful Colors Seaweed

Sinful Colors Seaweed is a nice pastel greyish green sort of shade. It is subtle, yet opaque in one coat. The formula was smooth and wear was great (as usualy with Sinful Colors).

2 Snowflake Manicures

At the beginning of last year, I did this manicure. It was one of my first attempts at nail art stamping and really got me hooked! The base is Sinful Colors Midnight Blue. I then took Revlon Gum Drop and stamped snowflakes from plate BM14. I put a little bit of silver glitter top coat on as well to give it a nice sparkle.
The Revlon stamped pretty well, but because the blue is so dark it didn't give the result I had hoped for. But it looks cool nonetheless.

I then decided to mix it up and switch the colors around. It looks great this way as well. Same colors and nail plate, just used the blue to stamp. Sinful Colors polish always works well stamping for me. The dark colors are so opaque and work nicely.
